CHILDE is an independently owned Australian brand located in Byron Bay. Founded in 2018 by Jon Laurenson while living in Portugal and being inspired by friend and renowned local Lisbon artist Mario Belem.
After visiting friends and boutique optical manufacturers in Italy he returned to Australia to form a creative team of friends to bring the CHILDE eco eyewear collections to life from April 2019.
Jon's experience in fashion eyewear spans 25 years as an original founder of Electric Visual and previously managing Arnette Optics in Australia during the late 90's.
After 10 years pursuing other creative business interests Jon felt it was time to make an exciting community driven lifestyle fashion brand with eco-sensibilities.
His passion for Australian fashion, Rock & Roll and environment consideration draws inspiration to the design aesthetic of the brand.
Jon has worked with our Italian design and quality control team across 3 brands over 25 years.
